Tubaphone
Tubaphone Banjo
Originally developed by the great David Day for the Vega banjo company in 1909 the Tu-ba-phone style banjos were for six decades the top of the Vega company's product line.
It is still considered one of the ultimate banjo tone rings, prized for its volume, projection and punch.
The Tubaphone tone ring was always intended to work in conjunction with a bracket band.
This holds the shoes meaning that the rim doesn't have to be drilled, it also adds weight to the wooden rim, giving a richer and fuller sound.
The Tubaphone banjo is characterised by a rich powerful tone and lots of sustain.
